European Commission / Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In 2007 the European Union and the Hungarian Government signed a so-called Management Partnership Agreement. The cooperating organisations (The European Commission Representation in Hungary, The European Parliament Information Office and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Hungary on the behalf of the Hungarian Government) worked out several mutual projects. One of them focused on Hungarian students with the aim of firming their European identity, providing them interesting and relevant information about the EU, and involving them in the Europe-wide dispute and collaboration.
The goal was to give students a positive impression about Hungary’s EU membership, a belief that would firm their identity as European citizens and make them proactive members of the EU.
The institutions were supposed to host events that would introduce the European Commission’s priorities, the EU’s commitment to all its citizens, to environmental and health protection and present its global strategy. Participants were to understand the importance of knowledge, quality, collective and individual performance, initiative and solidarity and recognize them as fundamental values in Europe.
